Principal Secretary Sonmani Bora-Led High-Level Committee Hears 12 Caste Certificate Cases, Issues Orders in Six


Raipur, August 7: A High-Level Caste Certificate Scrutiny Committee, chaired by Principal Secretary of the Tribal and Scheduled Caste Development Department Sonmani Bora, reviewed 12 caste certificate cases during a meeting held at the Tribal Research and Training Institute (TRTI) in Nava Raipur on Friday.

After examining records, representations submitted by the parties, and other relevant documents, the committee issued final orders in six cases, closed two cases, and directed further action in the remaining four.

The six cases taken up for hearing involved Padmabhushan Kashi, Joint Director, Directorate of Urban Administration and Development; Somvati Kol, former Sarpanch; Sanchita Rani Mandal, Head Teacher; Laxmi Thakur, Supervisor in the Women and Child Development Department; Hasya Prabha Angare, Stenographer; and Namrata Singh Jain, Chairperson of Mohla-Manpur Nagar Panchayat. Both the certificate holders and complainants were given an opportunity to present their submissions before the committee.

Crowd Gathers During Namrata Singh Jain Hearing

A large number of villagers gathered at the venue during the hearing of the case involving Mohla-Manpur Nagar Panchayat Chairperson Namrata Singh Jain, leading to a crowd management situation. Local police were called in to maintain order and ensure the smooth conduct of the proceedings. The situation returned to normal after committee chairperson Sonmani Bora interacted with the villagers, following which the hearing was completed as per the prescribed procedure.

The committee also reviewed six additional cases involving Ravindra Kumar Wasnik, Assistant Grade-I; Vasudev Chauhan, Zone Commissioner; Anju Kumari; Jeevan Livingston, Assistant Grade-II; Hemlata Bhansare, Stenotypist; and Laxmi Narayan Mahato, Senior Superintendent.

Of the four pending matters, the committee directed submission of additional documents in one case, issuance of a show-cause notice in another, and instructed a police inspector to submit an investigation report within one month in a third case. The fourth case was kept pending as it is currently under consideration by the Government of India.

The meeting was attended by Director of Public Instruction and committee member Rituraj Raghuvanshi, Director of Land Records Vinit Nandanwar, TRTI Director and Member Secretary Heena Animesh Netam, Assistant Research Officer Dr. Anil Virulkar, and Assistant Director Rama Uikey, among other officials.
